Vintage Madonna and Child Art - Cuzco Style

This comes from the 1940s - 1950s, the artist is unknown (no signature or markings on it), a highly-stylized Madonna and Child, with jewels and jeweled crowns, under an umbrella of 13 roses, done in Peruvian Colonial style, in which one of our art appraisers offered that "...the artist was very talented and very well trained in the Cuzco style of art ..."

The artwork itself measures 28" Tall x 20" W

And check out the awesome frame (wood), that perfectly compliments the art work

Framed, it measures 37" Tall x 29 1/2 Wide.

We've had multiple appraisals of this artwork, and they were all consistent with the evaluations on it, both as to quality of the art, and it's value.

They're wrought iron, with wood seats, and, though showing some wear, are rust-free and in very good condition.

The three Sweethearts, the seats are 18" off the ground,  and the Arm Chair, the seat is 25" high ... All seats are 14 1/2" round.

Vintage End of Day Glass (Large)

If you like unusual glass, this is going to be up your alley

Vintage End of Day Glass (Large)

It's 24 1/2" Tall, with a 6" base, a swirl of white, with both light and dark mauve in it, with five fingers moving up, and closing at the top.

A little primer, for those unfamiliar with End of Day Glass.

It comes from, at the end of the day, a glass maker will use up their molten glass, and it can be a variety of any colors, with a signature swirl-type pattern.

It is also known as "Friggers" or "Spatter" glass, and shouldn't be confused with Slag or Opaque glass.

While End of Day Glass can be made into a variety of objects, typically, you'll find it as pieces of jewelry, or small vases.

Something the size of our piece is a bit unusual.

And it could be put to use in a variety of ways, as a vase for tall flowers, an umbrella stand, or just a nice, decorative accent to your decor

19th Century Russian Brass 3-Panel Floor Mirror

We have yet another awesome mirror into 13909 Antiques!

19th Century Russian Brass 3-Panel Floor Mirror

This piece is some 140+ years old, all brass-and-glass, though I would say the mirrored glass is newer (Heck, it would be almost miraculous if the original mirrors had survived this many years).

We have researched this extensively, and haven't found anything like it on-line (There's a number of Vanities, with 3-panels, or Room Dividers, but not a floor-standing model)

It measures 46 1/2" Wide by 68" Tall, and the two side panels are hinged so you can keep them tight, or fan them back.

If you plan on purchasing, bring one, or, two friends, as there is some significant weight to this, though, for transporting, you can remove the two side panels easily, and it will fit in a station wagon, or larger Utility vehicle.

For someone that dresses very fashionably, this is the mirror for you, as it offers multiple angles, thanks to the two side panels.

Another old, and unusual, item into 13909 Antiques

It's in good condition, some wear spots on the outer edge and crease of spine.

And, it's chock full of photos, of Harvard buildings, many still standing and very recognizable, including some great shots, looking south, to the Charles River, showing just how undeveloped the area was.

Having gone through the entire book, looking for a "famous" person, one did stand out - William Davis Taylor, who listed his "Intended Vocation" as Journalism, which he achieved, in later years, becoming the Publisher of 'The Boston Globe'

This is a good get, for the collector of Vintage College Yearbooks, or Vintage Books, or, for someone that wants to have an unusual coffee table book.

Vintage First Edition Concentration Board Game

Yes, we've turned on the "Way Back" machine here at 13909 Antiques, with our latest piece of new inventory.

Vintage First Edition Concentration Board Game

As we note in the title, this is a First Edition game, issued in 1958, based on the then-popular TV Game Show, which was broadcast on and off from 1958 to 1991, and, when I was a child, it was hosted by Hugh Downs (there would be subsequent other hosts after Downs left).

It's all here, all the board number cards, the prize cards, the puzzle roll, and the cash for prizes.

With Winter soon approaching, you may want to stock up of activity items, should we get snowed in again as last Winter.

This is a great get for a Baby Boomer, who grew up watching the show, or, the the collector of Vintage Games.

Back To Regular Hours

Well, schools are back in session, Labor Day is next Monday, so that signals we're at the unofficial end of Summer.

Which means 13909 Antiques is back to regular hours, closed only on Tuesdays.
