Vintage 1930's Trunk - With Awesome Backstory!

This is one of those classic traveling trunks, with room to hang clothes, and drawers to store clothing and other items.

It is 40" Tall and 24-1/2" Wide and, it is in Very Good Condition, and functional.

What adds to this great Trunk is an awesome backstory, evidenced by stickers still hanging on to the trunk (there's three, one damaged and another loose - and you can see where some others were removed).

On 24 August, 1939, Elsie Groth took sail from Hamburg, to New York, on the Hamburg-Amerika Line ship, the Hansa.

What is significant about this date, Ms. Groth my have been fleeing Germany, as, a week later, 1 September 1939, Germany invaded Poland, and this is the acknowleged start of World War II

If this trunk could talk ....

In fact, between 1850, and 1938, approximately 5 million people emigrated from Europe aboard Hamburg- Amerika Line ships.

This may very well have been the Hansa's last passenger voyage, as it appears the ship was conscripted into the war, and became a training ship for the German Navy during World War II.

If you are a Vintage Trunk Collector, or, you want to take a cruise in Retro-style, ... Maybe you need some extra closet space ...

Antique Leather Trunk

13909 Antiques has a piece that Central Casting would sign up and give it a starring role.

This is in fair condition, and the new owner will need to give it some love.

This, a good, old-fashioned Steamer Trunk, is from the Early 1900's, handles are gone and leather is in rough shape, however, it is a spacious trunk, and you can't help thinking about how, back in the day, people toting this to the dock and embarking on a trip, likely, with all their possessions in it.

It's numbers are 35"L, 21"W and 24"T

Use it for storage, decorate your hall with it, or fit some glass atop it for a unique coffee table.
