Framed Very Vintage French Teaching Poster - Musee Scolaire by Emile Deyrolle

Another awesome item into 13909 Antiques

Framed Very Vintage French Teaching Poster - Musee Scolaire by Emile Deyrolle

Featured are;

Le Brochet

La Carpe

Le Perche

Le Goujon

Origins of this come from the 1830's, by Jean-Bapiste Deyrolle. The Musee he founded provided many educational charts to French schools.

We can't say, with certainty, how old ours is, our client telling us they purchased it over 50-years ago in NYC, and was told it was already very old.

If you are a collector of nautical items, this would be a very unique one for you, and, paging all seafood restaurant owners, as this would make a great decoration in your establishment.

Row your boat to shore, and come by 13909 Antiques to secure this great piece before someone else does

Antique German White Block Lusterware Canister Set (13-pieces)

We have another spectacular item for you, something you do not see everyday.

Antique German White Block Lusterware Canister Set

These are from Early Century, and I have 13-pieces (despite extensive research, I couldn't find out how large a set it is supposed to be, as most of what I see on-line are 2-4 pcs), and they are awesome.

The set is beautiful, early Lusterware (most on the market now is post WWII from Japan), and it shines and shimmers, a vastly different iridescence, and, at certain angles, gives off a rainbow-type glitter.

This would make a great get for a Lusterware collector, or, would make a tremendous gift to one.

Swing by 13909 Antiques to score this Antique German White Block Lusterware Canister Set (13-pieces)

A History of The Monopoly Game

If you happened to be up early yesterday (Friday) morning, and had WGBH Radio on (89.5 FM in Boston), a report from the Curiosity Desk, by Edgar B. Herwick III was being broadcast.

Herwick extolled on the origins, and creation, of the infamous board game, Monopoly.
The game Monopoly got its start in turn-of-the-century Maryland, it’s set in the streets of Atlantic City, and was first published and sold in Philadelphia. But it was the Parker Brothers of Salem, Mass., who would bring the venerable board game to the masses and transform it into an American icon.
[snip]
Despite it’s heady concept, it turns out the game was simply fun to play. Students took to it, built their own boards, and developed variations, with names like “Auction,” “Finance” and “Monopoly.” It became popular in small pockets across the country, including among a group of Quakers in Atlantic City, N.J.
[snip]
Sold. Parker Brothers had secured a monopoly on Monopoly. Within a year, they were producing 20,000 copies a week in Salem — and Monopoly was the best selling game in America
(Read the full article here)

Well, all this is a prelude, for, if you have gone through the 13909 Antiques Blog, you'll see, back in August 11th, we posted of our securing a 1st Edition 1935 Monopoly Game (in very, very good condition).

Disney Serigraph Cells

Some more great items in 13909 Antiques this week!

Disney Serigraph Cells

This was a coup for scoring this tremendous film art work.

It is Original, and a Limited Edition from Walt Disney.

As it says on the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity;
"...To produce a serigraph image, a hand-cut master screen is prepared, for each color, from original studio art. The serigrapher applies each color separately, one screen at a time, in perfect registration. The result is an original work of art."
There was a limited production on 9,500 serigraph cells, and then the screen were destroyed "ensuring their limted status."

We had posted last year (May) that we had the Bambi Serigraph cell, and since then, we have acquired more.

Available are;

Cinderella
Bambi
Mickey and Minnie Mouse
Winnie The Pooh
Donald Duck

If you are a Disney fan, collector, or just want to pick up a great gift for one, whisk yourself up here to 13909 Antiques to score one before someone else
