That, of course, comes from two great scenes of the classic movie 'Witness For The Prosecution', starring the subject of our post.

This comes from 1953-1954, when Ms. Dietrich first performed at the Hotel Sahara in Las Vegas.
The legendary actress and singer was offering some ardent fan (or admirer - she did have a torrid affair with John Wayne), as, along with her autograph, she wrote;
"Many thanks for your wonderful letter ... Please come backstage"

The elderly collector we acquired this from didn't know.
