Very Vintage January 17, 1929 Boston Post Newspaper Front Section

"Holy narly newspaper, Batman!"

We got another great one here, into 13909 Antiques

Very Vintage January 17, 1929 Boston Post Newspaper Front Section

This is the four-page spread of the front section, framed.

And, oh, what news does it carry.

Included on the front page is;
Screaming, - "Gun Blaze Foils Yegg In Stickup"
"Ruth Funeral This Morning"
"Propose Tax On Bananas"
"New Talkie Stage Burns"

There's even an ad, teasing an upcoming story on the famed evangelist Aimee McPherson (known as Sister Aimee, insanely popular, who would also create headlines with her famous disappearance)

While the ""Gun Blaze Foils Yegg In Stickup" is the big story, the "Ruth Funeral This Morning" is, likely, of bigger importance.

This was the first wife of the famous slugger, Babe Ruth, Mary Ellen "Helen" Woodford Ruth, who died in a house fire in Watertown, MA.

But we save the best, for last.

Aside from all the days' stories, this January 17, 1929 Boston Post Newspaper gives a snapshot of life, 10-months and 12-days before the infamous crash of the Stock Market on October 29, 1929 (on the back page of this paper is an ad for a local supermarket, all the prices showing below 10-Cents for the items)

This is a great item for the Vintage Newspaper collector, and, also, for the person interested in the history of the 1920s, or, if you just want to decorate with a funky piece.

After you yell "Get me re-write", head on up here to 13909 Antiques and score this tremendous Very Vintage January 17, 1929 Boston Post Newspaper
